15 Most Underrated Hard Rock Albums Of All Time
7. Lightning Bolt - Pearl Jam
After the grunge boom, all of the big groups that came out of Seattle seemed to wane from relevancy. While people still talk about the spotless legacy of bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam were still making music that was on par with some of their greatest work.
All of the music after the band's experimental No Code seemed to be up for grabs for diehard fans but wasn't necessarily signaling the second coming of Grunge. Once the band unveiled their record Lightning Bolt in 2013, their songs seemed much more straightforward than before. It seemed that Eddie Vedder and co. were taking a break from the more unusual song constructions of their middle period and bringing everything back to basics, with songs that balanced arena rock bombast with punk rock fury.
While fans may have missed the savage energy of the band's debut, "Mind Your Manners" is still one of the most feral cuts the band has made in years. At the same time, the album takes a few turns with slow moments like "Sirens" undercut by forceful tracks like "My Father's Son" and even the bluesy "Let the Records Play." Pearl Jam may have grown up a bit since their debut, but Lightning Bolt still hits with as much punch as some of their early work.
