15 Most Underrated Hard Rock Singers EVER

3. Geddy Lee - Rush

Out of all the rock singers of the 70's, Geddy Lee from Rush has been dragged through the mud quite a bit. Even at the band's prime, many people couldn't get behind Lee's soaring vocal approach, which has been described as everything from Mickey Mouse to a dying cat. However, Lee's way of singing has always seemed to register as the group's biggest strength to most fans.

Though the band are known for their amazing chops behind their instruments, Lee's vocals gave each song its character rather than the tune devolving into instrumental flexing. While Lee was clearly influenced by blues belters like Robert Plant in the early days, his way of tackling a song started to shift once Neil Peart joined the group. As the band began to write more complex material, Lee's vocal style went from being blues riffing to a unique way of telling a story through his voice.

Even if you couldn't quite make out what every song was about, the intensity with which Lee would sing made you hungry for more. Geddy Lee may not be the greatest vocalist that the rock world has ever seen, but he is definitely underrated as one of the most complex musical thinkers to come from rock's golden age.
