10. Shonen Knife Performs Top Of The World
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ba360Dz1sQ The Carpenters are one of those bands that tend to elicit one of two responses when their songs come on the radio: "Oh, The Carpenters, I love their music," or "Oh dear God, not them! Change it quick!" If you fall into the former category, then you're probably happy to see a Carpenters song on this list. You're welcome. If you fall into the second category, don't dismiss the above video right away. Shonen Knife is a Japanese all-female punk band. Their inspirations include bands such as The Kinks and The Ramones and they, in turn, have inspired bands such as Sonic Youth and Nirvana. They have been performing for over 30 years, with some changes to the lineup during that time, but still the same energy they have always had. You may still not like The Carpenters after you watch this cover, but you'll probably dislike the song a lot less.
