15 Things Only DJs Will Understand

3. Dealing With Annoyed Neighbours

If you want to get really good at DJing, like anything else in life you'll need to practice. A lot. While it would be nice to think that clubs would be happy to open up their doors during the day so you can play on their expensive sound system, the truth is you'll have to get a decent set-up at home. All of which is great from the point of view of the DJ - sometimes those hours' long marathons at home, fine-tuning a set while checking out the latest great tunes from the last record shopping binge can be every bit as good as the sets played out in clubs. It's not quite so great for your neighbours, and getting complaints about the noise is all but guaranteed. Add to that the occasional (or frequent) post-club gatherings, where most people are only capable of speaking at one volume - loud - and you'll be worrying about that anti-social behaviour order before you know it.
