4. The Demon Is One Of The Band's More Forgettable Missteps

Remember KISS' ill-fated deal with WCW? It's one that KISS fans would rather forget. KISS struck a deal with Eric Bischoff to develop The Demon, a character based on Gene Simmons. Portrayed by Brian Adams in a couple of promos, and then taken up by Dale Torborg for future appearances, the character was supposed to backed by KISS and part of a stable alongside the band. They had a contractual agreement with WCW to be involved in a pay-per-view main event... Problems with Bischoff leaving WCW and the fact that KISS' promotional concert for WCW received unbelievably low ratings meant that the character (and, indeed, Torborg himself) was a flop. It isn't a marketing decision that the band and its fans look back on fondly, to say the least...
