These two vastly different indie rock bands had the unfortunate distinction of achieving mainstream success within about a month of each other, thanks to their respective hits "Take Me Out" and "Float On." So...who wrote which song again? Both are catchy, yet unusual tracks that lean heavily on angular guitar riffs with half-spoken/half-sung, mildly repetitive lyrics. So if all you know of either band are these two songs, well...WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Go seek out the rest of the Modest Mouse catalogue already! No offense to Franz Ferdinand, which is a fine band, but their dance rock simply can't go more than a few rounds against Modest Mouse's discography.
