15 Things Only Pearl Jam Fans Will Understand

1. Crowdfunding To Get Them To Play Iconic Venues

The dedication of Pearl Jam fans really is something to behold. Not content with seeing the band play in the same old venues whenever they decide to tour, some extra-dedicated (and perhaps slightly misguided) have been trying to get the group to play iconic, recently reopened venues.

Pearl Jam fan forum member Dan Sheffer, for example, has set up a crowdfunding campaign to get them to play Forrest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York, where the Beatles, Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix played once upon a time. So far, the campaign has raised almost $150,000 from nearly 600 backers with four months still to go. Despite Pearl Jam's management releasing a statement saying that crowdfunded concerts will more than likely never happen, this hasn't dampened Sheffer's spirits. The fanatic has said that:

We will continue to crowdfund until we receive a hard no from the Pearl Jam management. Dreams do come true and we are doing this for the thousands of fans that have supported us, visited our website, and have done charity work all for this movement. Pearl Jam are our heroes and we hope they can hear our proposal and give us more detailed feedback. We want this concert in Pearl Jam€™s hands and by no means would want otherwise. We know they put on a show like no other. We are simply a grassroots movement that knows Pearl Jam Forest Hills would be amazing for the fans, the band, and the community. We remain faithful, as the song goes. We are the Forest Hills Faithful!

Will the gig happen? That remains to be seen, but the fans will keep on trying, and dreaming, until it does.
