11. Dinosaur Jr.

Dinosaur1 Dinosaur Jr. are a three piece indie-rock band from Amherst, Massachusetts. Formed in 1984, they released their debut album, Dinosaur a year later under Homestead Records. Dinosaur Jr. are known for their frequent uses of distortion and feedback, and due to this became a highly influential band during the 90s. They are also well known for their guitarist and vocalist, J Mascis. Frequently appearing in various lists of the greatest guitarists in history and his extensive collection of collaborations with musicians ranging from hardcore punk GG Allin to the Danish indie band, Mew. Over a 23 year career as an active band, Dinosaur Jr. have released 10 studio LPs. The most recent of which is 2012s I Bet on Sky. With their obscenely catchy song writing, they are definitely a band that everyone will find something about them to enjoy. 10. Bayside

Bayside1 Bayside are a four piece Punk band from Queens, New York. Similar to Brand New, Bayside can be classed as early emo but set themselves apart from the rest with their through and through punk songwriting. Another band for guitarists to give a good listen to. For a great example of how the band function, the titular track of their 2007 release, The Walking Wounded features frontman Anthony Raneri's poetic lyrical style and a breathtaking solo from guitarist Jack O'Shea. However the song stands out through its variety, featuring a piano bridge and even a drop of waltz timing. The band are often known for their odd time signatures and faithful recordings (You may at times struggle to tell the difference between their live album and studio work). Raneri's lyrics have also been very popular tattoo ideas with fans due to their relatability, over the course of their 13 years together and 5 full length LPs they will probably have a song for the feeling you are feeling now.
