15 Unsigned Metal Bands You Need to Hear Now

3. Jute Gyte

jutegyteThe Lowdown: There is prolific and then there is Jute Gyte. A one man black metal maven from Missouri, Adam Kalmbach has released over 20 albums since 2006!- all on CD, no bandcamp shenanigans here- and all very good releases. Alternating between instrumental ambient releases and bristling, primal, nerve wrecking black metal, Jute Gyte is the epitome of DIY music. His latest release, Discontinuities (along with his other 2013 releases Noctis Labrynthus and Metonym) is a jarring, extreme, dissonant release, much more than the last few releases, but the amazing thing is that all of his 'metal' releases are of equal striking quality, despite being recorded in his basement and despite the large amount of output. Be warned; this is harsh, experimental, caustic stuff from the deeply intellectual mind of a true music student (trust me, I have met him) , and is a stark contrast to his ambient releases. I truly wonder what is next in store for Mr. Kalmbach as he has hinted at putting Jute Gyte to rest and maybe even branching out to doom metal. RIYL: Havohej, Dark Throne, Anaal Nathrakh. http://youtu.be/TLVy7w_Ityk

I am metal. I am so metal I ejaculate mercury. OK, love puppies, pro football and my daughter, so how's that for balance? I own a little metal blog called teethofthedivine.com and used to write for Metal Maniacs, Unrestrained magazines and currently help out with Hails and Horns and New Noise magazines. Yeah- I guess I am metal.
