15. They Were Punks First

People think of Talking Heads as an ‘80s New Wave group, but they actually came up with the punks in the 1970s. They played to the same crowds at CBGB as the Ramones, Television, Patti Smith, and Richard Hell.

With their plain tee shirts and clean hair, Talking Heads were a rare breed for that abrasive scene.
