14. “Psycho Killer” Was A Fluke

One of the most band’s most enduring songs was also the very first that David Byrne ever wrote, which he did in 1974 more or less as a lark. Yet even today the musical catchphrase “Qu’est-ce que c’est?” lives on.

Also, the release of “Psycho Killer” in December 1977 may have seemed like an eery comment on the Son of Sam serial killings of that year, but the timeliness was entirely coincidental.
