We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender..." Winston Churchill
As mentioned in the beginning, most people credit the beginnings of Heavy Metal with the bands Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Led Zeppelin. While that's fine, it goes without saying that even though Iron Maiden didn't start the movement, they defined the heart and soul of it through the power of their image, legacy, and music. No one else has genuinely matched the attitude and ferocity of their work. Ask any Trooper out there to define Heavy Metal and their answer will be a simple one: Iron Maiden. Other metal fans feel free to disagree with us; they don't call us the Troopers for nothing.
Is there an entry we missed? Is there something that only Iron Maiden fans will understand that isn't on this list? What's the best album? Where does Bruce Dickinson get his energy and can we have some? If you have an answer to any of these questions or anything else, leave us a comment below!
