18 Things Only Slash Fans Will Understand

9. Alongside Ozzy, He€™s Cheated Death More Than Anyone

"When you overdose, there's a certain kind of scene where everybody is just moving really quickly and there's noise from radios and everything; I've experienced it a bunch of times. They took me to the hospital but I said, 'I'm fine', signed myself out, went back to the hotel and we flew to the next gig." (Source)
Now it's definitely not something to aspire to be like, but at the same time there's something so charming and endearing about the nonchalance at which Slash describes his frequent run-ins with near-death experiences. These days he's fixed with a small defibrillator to keep him ticking, as thanks to a decade of harder than hard drinking it was a must to avoid the reaper at his door. "How hard?" You ask. Well about a half gallon of vodka a day would do it. Slash's stories of what he put his body through are 'rivalled' only by those of Ozzy's most wild, naked-streak-filled nights, but these days both guys are enjoying the fruits of their labour rather than almost losing them.

8. Anastasia Is Just EPIC

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JC0NJdfbsA Everyone has their favourite epic Slash solo, be it the aching cries of November Rain that come screaming in at the end of that song, the gorgeous bends that echo throughout Estranged, or any number of slower, bluesier numbers that just happen to resonate with you more than any other. Anastasia was the last single released from Apocalyptic Love, and boy what a masterclass in songwriting. Everything from the intricately fingerpicked intro that changes chords every couple seconds to Myles' poetic lyrics that soar into the chorus, to the burning solo that sizzles away before bursting into a scorching bonfire of lightning fast runs. It even ends on a tremolo-picked descending run that remains one of the fastest pieces Slash has ever put to record.
