18 Things Only Slash Fans Will Understand

3. His Warm-Up Is Our Career-Best

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPa4xMoEGfc As the above video attests, even watching the man warm up is a spectacle in itself, as he details one of the most quintessential elements of a guitarists 'feel' when playing - switching which fingers take part in which runs and riffs. It may be a small thing on paper, but it's also one of the core building blocks in how his signature style has come about over the years. With rigorous practicing when he was younger leading to some slightly unorthodox techniques and approaches on how to phrase certain passages, it's these more human touches that make it able to point to any riff or solo and say "That's Slash".

2. We'd Love To Hear The Corey Taylor Velvet Revolver Sessions

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72VFOazWGAk A few years ago rumours began to circulate that Velvet Revolver were aiming to replace Scott Weiland with any number of high-profile singers - one of which we were all sure was going to come true was Slipknot/Stone Sour's Corey Taylor. It's definitely a strange choice on the face of it, but as the above clip attests, Corey can handle and deliver on the Guns' material perfectly, injecting his own flair and venom into the proceedings whilst also slaying the high notes like a boss. The reality of the hearsay was that Slash and the guys had played a few songs together - with Corey supplying his own lyrics too - but in the end it just didn't work out. Regardless of everything and whoever actually does turn out to be the new singer going forward, we'd put good money on those recording sessions being some of the most fun and intense demos either party have put together - maybe some day they'll see the light of day to tide us over before the next proper VR album?

1. The Post-Guns N' Roses Material Is Incredible

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puSn_T7r4qM Sometimes it's hard to believe, but it's actually been over two full decades since the last 'proper' Guns n' Roses show. As benchmark-setting as they were and as endlessly enjoyable as that material still is, there's been just as many awesome tunes through the combination of Snakepit, Velvet Revolver, solo and with Myles and The Conspirators to be thankful for too. People forget Appetite for Destruction actually came out a few years prior to the world taking on Sweet Child o' Mine as one of the greatest rock songs of all time. Not to take away from the talent in the music itself, but it was also the state of people and the industry at the time that helped everything to come together as well as it did, meaning it's hard to look back and compare the GnR material with the new - as it's always going to be unanimously praised. There's no mistaking the venomous snarl of Axl Rose fronting The Most Dangerous Band In The World, but as is the case with other great songs individual fanbases know never get their wider recognition today - like Alter Bridge's Blackbird - Guns n' Roses and Slash had their time, but we're glad to get behind all the newer material too. Are their any other tidbuts, facts or fan-specific nuggets of info we've missed? Let us know in the comments!
