Granted, 'Because I Got High' is amusing. The story of guy meets drugs and subsequently messes his life up has not exactly received a lack of coverage in music, but rarely is this often told tale presented to us with a humorous outlook. What a shame then, that after hearing it a few hundred times, it starts to grate. Incessantly. It is also perhaps the only UK number one to date to feature chicken noises. Which really, just makes the song even more irksome.

Aside from proving she was far too punk rock to spell properly, Avril Lavigne's fable of the ballet dancer who was just too cool to go out with a Sk8er Boi (and then totally regretted it when that guy got famous) is a guilty pleasure for many - but it's also a very annoying song. Almost as annoying as the video where Avril and a bunch of rebellious youngsters took to the streets until a helicopter had to come down and stop the teenage moshing mayhem. Rock and roll is clearly alive in this woman's heart.
