19. The Automatic - Monster
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9iJNp3wZcI What's that coming over the hill? Is it a... fill in the blank and win a prize! Despite trying to tackle drug abuse, The Automatic ended up with a novelty indie anthem. It may have been almost fun at first, but after a boatload of airplay, pretty much everyone chirping the chorus at you throughout the duration of 2006 - and let's face it, the song that gave the Welsh quartet their 15 minutes of fame - got pretty annoying, pretty quickly. The lyrics for the now notorious refrain were allegedly meant to be temporary filler until the band thought of something more fitting, but they stuck. How different things could have been. 18. O-Town - Liquid Dreams
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7RPvOOjCvE As the golden age of the boyband drew to a close, reality TV stars O-Town popped up with this strange little number about, err, nocturnal emissions. The culprit? Those damn dreams involving some erotic sleep-vixen who is reported to be 'a morphoratic dream from a magazine.' That's right. Morphoratic. The boys describe the star of their liquid dreams in detail as a combination of Destiny's Child, Madonna, Janet Jackson and a Jennifer (presumably Jennifer Lopez, but they aren't specific), among others. Edgy for a boyband? Not quite. This is an uncomfortable listen at best and actually a little bit creepy at worst. Not to mention that when you're done listening to it that darned chorus nestles in your head for hours afterwards. Good luck with this one.
