8. Losin' Kind
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqrZFD1dpSg When looking at unreleased or rare Springsteen songs it is fascinating to see how ideas, melodies and even whole verses of songs can change or be shifted somewhere else in order to be deemed fit for purpose. Losin' Kind, another Nebraska outtake, is a similar in melody to Highway Patrolman and tells pretty much the same story as Highway 29 (from The Ghost of Tom Joad). Springsteen had to axe Losin' Kind in favour of the (admittedly superior) Highway Patrolman because their lyrics were too similar but it remains a great song in it's own right.
