20 Best Album Covers Of 2021

The cover for OK Human is fun, eye-catching and puzzling in the good sense. Swedish artist Mattias Adolfsson managed to design an elaborate and intricate piece, but one that doesn’t become an encumbered and unreadable mess (such as, for example, Black Midi’s Cavalcade).

The reason why it doesn’t crack the top ten is the lack of any truly meaningful link with the music. Aside from “Screens”, “Grapes of Wrath” which is a tribute to Audible, and maybe “All My Favorite Songs” (which, looking at the videoclip, you could argue is really about social anxiety in our social media-driven world), no song really speaks to the theme of our interactions with machines. Sadly, this album is not the layered exploration of our technological age that the title and cover would have you believe.

OK Human is a great concept cover, and it’s just too bad it lacks the concept album to go with it.
