20 Best Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Albums Of 2016

10. Tremonti - Dust

There has to be little doubt in anybody's mind that Dust must be the best solo album by acclaimed rock n' roll guitarist, Mark Tremonti.

Even though he is known for his work in hard rock acts like Creed and Alter Bridge, Tremonti's solo project is far from just a rehash of the same somewhat radio-friendly style.

Even though they all contain their fair share of melody, the Tremonti albums are amazingly heavy, dabbling in the guitarist's influences from the worlds of extreme metal.

On Dust, riffs like those on "My Last Mistake", "Catching Fire" and "The Cage" demonstrate that wholeheartedly, while the clean vocals from Mark himself will keep the record from alienating the Alter Bridge/Creed-loving fanbase that he has built up over the last two decades.
