20 Best Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Albums Of 2018 (So Far)

9. Bleed From Within – Era

Alas, Bleed from Within, why aren’t you embarking on sell-out, arena-sized world tours at the moment? Because you really, really deserve to right now, and have deserved to for at least half a decade at this point.

To those that do not know about this acclaimed, volatile outfit, firstly, you should really fix that ASAP and, secondly, they are probably the last child of Britain’s ridiculously popular mid-2000s metalcore craze. But despite sharing a scene with more pop-inspired names like Asking Alexandria and Bring Me the Horizon, Bleed from Within bubbled in the underground, as their primal take on their subgenre saw them regularly experimenting with melodic death metal, groove metal and even a few dashes of prog.

Jump-cut to 2018 and, as names like Loathe and Code Orange become the new, frenetic leaders of the metalcore style, now is truly the time for these techy demigods to rise from obscurity to venue-filling enormity.

And Era is the perfect album with which to do so. Ceaselessly punchy, incessantly melodic and packed with more hooks than you can count, this is, so far, the metalcore album of 2018.

I write for Metal Hammer, Prog and WhatCulture. I don’t have Facebook or Twitter, so you’ll just have to call me a stupid cuck to my face.
