20 Exquisitely-Produced Songs That MUST Be Played Loud As Hell

5. LCD Soundsystem €“ "All I Want"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6BYCcy5aeo Speaking of James Murphy and LCD Soundsystem, there's no doubt that the man is a purveyor of sonic landscapes that simply need to be played at maximum volume to be appreciated. The man slings catchy, funky dance-floor breakdowns like it's his job (which, often, it is), but his finest tracks €“ and his most stunning displays of production €“ are actually his ballads. One of his best is "All I Want," the centerpiece number from LCD's 2010 swansong "This Is Happening," which cribs moves from David Bowie's "Heroes" and parlays them into a long, meandering sonic trip that doubles down on slide guitars and blipping synth lines. By the end of the song, Murphy's vocals have nearly been overwhelmed by the out-of-control synthesizers, and the swell of sound and confusion that results is something that has to be heard on the loudest of soundsystems.
