20 Greatest Hip Hop Groups Of All Time

13. UGK

The southern hip hop scene wouldn't be what it is if it wasn't for Pimp C and Bun B, otherwise known as UGK. For 20 years, the hip hop powerhouses provided endless street anthems about life in the hood, but did it with a smoothness and style unseen before them. While Outkast and the Goodie Mob will get the most respect for bringing the Dirty South movement to the mainstream, it was UGK who were the movement's forefathers. Luckily, after years of hard work without much success due to label issues, UGK finally got their just due when they featured on the smash hit Jay Z summer track 'Big Pimpin'. From there, the duo's popularity sky rocketed and they finally began to get the respect they deserved. However, Pimp C's incarceration due to aggravated assault meant the group had to wait to follow up on their success and they made it count with 2007's Underground Kings which went straight to number one on the Billboard 100 charts. Sadly, four months after the release of their biggest album Pimp C was found dead due to Promethazine and Codeine syrup overdose combined with sleep apnea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awMIbA34MT8
