Do you remember when everyone was really excited for the Jay Z and Kanye West collaboration project called Watch The Throne? That summer everyone was interested in seeing what two hip hop heavyweights could conjure up while they were in the lab, but if we're being honest, what they produced was pretty disappointing. The reason they've been brought up is because at the same time Watch The Throne were throttling rap fans with N***as in Paris, another hip hop duo were slowly putting their own project together, a project that successfully pushed the thought of Watch The Throne out of the hip hop consciousness. Run The Jewels, which features southern rap legend Killer Mike and New York backpack rapper king El-P, blew open the doors off when they released their first album in 2013, meshing their hard-hitting, uncensored lyrics with El-P's trippy production skills. To prove that their first effort wasn't a fluke and was actually a taste of things to come, they put out their second album just over a year later, balancing out the 38:56 album with their usual bragadocious raps with more political and social tracks regarding police brutality. If they weren't given the kudos they deserve during the beginning of their outstanding careers, Run The Jewels have forced fans and rappers to give them that respect now due to the sheer quality of the work they've put out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEOximWoFd0
