20 Greatest Punk Albums Ever Made
2. Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables
The term 'game changer' gets thrown around a lot in modern music, but few bands can live up to this title as much as Dead Kennedys do. In 1980, they completely reformed everyone's perception of punk rock by releasing their foundation shaking debut record, 'Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables'.
Dead Kennedys are key figures in the formation of hardcore punk and this record was the band's unrivalled breakthrough success. 'Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables' took political imagery and influence in punk to a whole new level with boundary pushing tracks like 'Kill the Poor', 'Holiday in Cambodia' and 'California Uber Alles'.
The band followed this record with the dangerously underrated 'Plastic Surgery Disaster' in 1982, but they didn't last much longer and had completely disbanded by 1986.
