Papa Roach, as forefathers to nu and rap metal have been touring around the world for decades. Yet, as a staple for anyone whose teenage angst came at the height of Emo, they are often dumped in with the fads of '00s pop culture. While they're greatest hits strikes hard with nostalgia, there is a wealth of material post-Metamorphosis (2009).
The band's initial intention wasn't to create an album, they planned to just put out songs as and when they felt like. However, during the pandemic they wrote so much material that, even after cuts, they had fourteen tracks.
The band have stuck somewhat to their initial plan, having released four of the tracks to date (Swerve, Kill the Noise, Dying to Believe, and Stand Up). Though, the band appeared to have gone through quiet a recording process, frontman Jacoby Shaddix revealed:
"[...] we aired some grievances in the process and really got through some stuff together and came out on the other side of the process of this record feeling like, 'Man, we just went through hell and heaven to make this record. We've got something special."
