20 Most Underrated Hard Rock Songs Of All Time

9. Got Me Wrong - Alice In Chains

Alice In Chains were real sonic innovators in the grunge scene. While they had been known for their metallic throwdowns on albums like Dirt and Facelift, the band also showcased a softer side to their sound that was based around acoustics rather than electric stomp. What makes the mystery of Alice in Chains all the more awesome is the fact that their best acoustic cut doesn't even come from their famous Jar of Flies EP.

Before their landmark release Dirt, the band cooled down from their usual sound with the Sap EP, which featured the brilliant "Got Me Wrong." The song pretty much starts the same way you'd expect most AOC slowburners: with a breezy riff that almost pulls from country music. However, the real magic comes when you get to the chorus breakdown, where the harmonies from Jerry Cantrell and Layne Staley move in conjunction with the chords to create one of the greatest ascents of the band's career.

Though this EP may not have gotten a lot of love back in the day, "Got Me Wrong" gained a much greater appreciation once the band played it live on their MTV Unplugged performance. With a beautiful melody and a haunting ambiance, this song encapsulates everything great about Alice in Chains in one magical track.
