20 Most Underrated Hard Rock Songs Of All Time
19. Innervision - System Of A Down
System of a Down is one of the few hard rock bands that have left a flawless track record. With just 5 albums to their name, the band's brand of politically charged nu metal has always been up to a specific high quality. Even though System hasn't released a bad album, their 3rd effort Steal This Album! tends to be looked at as a stumbling block rather than a major moment in the band's discography.
Released after some tracks were leaked ahead of time, people tend to think of the album as a rush job rather than a fully-fledged artistic statement. However, songs like "Innervision" are some of the greatest tracks the band would ever create. As opposed to the more ethereal sounds of Toxicity, this track ups the intensity with Daron Malakian's off-kilter downtuned chords and fantastic use of dynamic changes.
Just when you think you have time to catch a breather in Serj Tankian's vocal breakdown, the track hits the ground running and puts you right back in the center of the pit. While there may have been some elements of Steal This Album! that were a bit slapdash, "Innervision" can go toe-to-toe with anything off of Toxicity and should be celebrated as one of the band's greatest fire-starters.
