12. Smashing Pumpkins - "Today" (1993)

A heavy rotation staple of MTV from the early Lollapalooza era, here we have self-appointed spokesman for a generation Billy Corgan driving an ice cream truck, reading a comic book, and ruminating on the nature of existence.Y'know, stuff we did all the time in the 90's. A breezy, summery confection of a tune, this predates the unfortunate later Pumpkins where Corgan lost his hair and turned into a creepy Nosferatu vampire. This clip remains the Pumpkins biggest hit and commercial peak, and the one point where the Pumpkins truly had Gen X's attention. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmUZ6nCFNoU
11. Daft Punk - "Around The World" (1997)

All of the videos from Daft Punk's debut album are creatively amazing, but famed director Michel Gondry's clip for "Around The World" is particularly impressive, a visual interpretation of the song with identically costumed dancers representing various facets of the song (the drum beat, bass line, etc.) in perfect synchronicity. It's really more of a work of performance art than a video, and has aged rather well (unlike most videos of the period.) It holds up very well to repeated viewings as you can always manage to notice something new. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9MszVE7aR4
