20 Punk Rock Albums Turning 20 In 2020
8. New Found Glory - New Found Glory
In the year 2000, New Found Glory were only 3 years old and just starting to pick up some momentum. That momentum was boosted drastically upon the groups release of their first record put out on a major label.
The eponymous album was universally well received with Blink 182 frontman Mark Hoppus proclaiming "It was one of those records that never found its way out of my CD player" and gave the world a re-release of the bands first major hit "Hit or Miss".
Many of the songs on the album represent a strict dichotomy between two directions that the group wanted move towards in it's infancy. The heavy instrumentals and quick paced are paired with catchy, poppy vocals resulting in the band helping to pioneer the direction of the genre going forward.
The group shaped the pop punk landscape in more than just sound alone as it provided two of the biggest names in the genre today, "All Time Low"and "The Story So Far" with their respective names.
The album was clearly as important to the band as it was to their fans because in 2010 New Found Glory embarked on the "The 10 Year Anniversary of the Self-Titled Record Tour".
