20 Punk Rock Albums You Must Hear Before You Die

6. ...And Out Come The Wolves - Rancid

Operation Ivy may have lived fast and died young, but Rancid rose from the ashes, carrying on the band's high-energy ska punk style, while also putting a unique spin on things. What's more is that their third album, ...And Out Come the Wolves, was a cornerstone of revivalist punk rock in the 1990s.

In addition to having a great sound, the subject matter touched upon in this album's tracks are pretty varied.

For instance, Time Bomb tells a story of a young man who ends up losing his life after getting involved in organized crime, Ruby Soho is an anecdote about how being a touring musician can affect your love life, and Avenues & Alleyways presents commentary on racial tension in America. Plus, just about every song is upbeat and has a delightfully memorable chorus.

As far as '90s punk and third-wave ska go, ...And Out Come the Wolves is the cream of the crop.
