20 Things You Are Never Told About Being In A Band

11. Touring? You€™ll Need To Take Out A Mortgage

Paramount PicturesParamount PicturesTouring is a great way to get your name out there, visit cool places and meet new bands. What no one tells you is that each tour will end up costing you the price of a small holiday. While it may be tempting to just tour for the sake of it, unless you're drowning in £50 notes it may be better to wait for tours that are really worth doing. 10. Finding Similar Bands To You Is Somehow Inexplicably And Frustratingly Difficult

But after a few weeks of trying to arrange some amazing bills, you realise that there aren't any other post folk metal core bands in your area. You'll just have to suck it up and play with bands that don't quite share your love for banjo-led beatdowns.

9. You€™ll Play The Same Venues. Repeatedly

tumblrtumblrRemember the godawful crap-shacks we talked about earlier? Well sometimes you'll find a building with a stage that you start to warm to. The questionable stains on the wall become somehow endearing, the watered down sputum they serve becomes tradition, and the bands you repeatedly play with there become your buddies. These homely venues become a comforting safety net, but try not to play them too often - no one will want to see you if you've become some pub's house band.
