20 Universally-Hated Songs That Are Actually Technically Very Good

20. Iron Maiden - Man On The Edge

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5UqJWRV55E Back in the mid 90s, Iron Maiden were in a period of extreme flux. Iconic guitarist Adrian Smith had left, the fog-horn himself Bruce Dickinson had fallen out with band leader Steve Harris and moved away from the band too, only to be replaced with Janick Gers and Blaze Bayley respectively. While Janick was accepted as a guitarist pretty quickly, Bayley was hated from about six seconds into this first single. The hatred is simply because Bayley is not Bruce Dickinson, and Harris was still writing songs as if Dickinson was going to be singing them. Man On The Edge is a traditional Maiden song through and through, save for the fact that the wrong singer for the job is fronting the band. Bayley lasted two albums before he was unceremoniously dumped in favour of the returning Dickinson.

I am a man of many interests. I am a passionate gamer, running my own YouTube channel (The Gadget Addicts) showing off the best of modern gaming in the form of Let's Play videos. I am an ardent musician, having been a guitarist for the past 13 years. I am also a massive geek, I adore science fiction and fantasy films and TV shows and am trying to work up the courage to start writing a novel. If I can ever think of a good story to tell... I live with my wife in the North East of England and own a belligerent little black cat.
