2019’s 10 Weirdest Music Collaborations
9. Avril Lavigne And Nicki Minaj - Dumb Blonde
It was surprising enough to see Avril Lavigne come back after six years with her album Head Above Water. Since her absence, she has fought Lyme disease and split with Nickelback's Chad Kroeger. She has also struck a friendship with Anaconda singer Nicki Minaj.
Dumb Blonde sounds like an early Avril Lavigne hit; it could've been a number one in a earlier era. It is no surprise that the song was co-wrote with other teen pop-punk singers of the early 2000s, including SR-71's Mitch Allan. It is just a shame that with Nicki's feature, Dumb Blonde has no music video.
Nicki empowers Avril’s anti-hater anthem, and oddly references her 2014 album The Pinkprint. What makes it all the weirder is that after years of guest rap verses, Avril Lavigne could be one of Nicki’s last collaborations. The rapper recently announced her retirement from music, before swiftly deleting her announcement tweet claiming it was "abrupt & insensitive".
