2020 Grammy Awards: Predicting The Biggest Winners
2. Record Of The Year
Nominees: '7 Rings' - Ariana Grande, 'Bad Guy' - Billie Eilish, 'Hard Place' - H.E.R., 'Hey, Ma' - Bon Iver, 'Old Town Road' - Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, 'Sunflower' - Post Malone & Swae Lee, 'Talk' - Khalid, 'Truth Hurts' - Lizzo
Record Of The Year features another head-to-head clash between 'Bad Guy' and 'Truth Hurts', but also has the X-factor of Lil Nas X's megahit 'Old Town Road' in contention as well.
Given how successful that song was, and the nationwide conversation in sparked about how we perceive and classify musical genres, he has to be favorite to win.
At the same time, there's certainly going to be some talk in favor of 'Bad Guy'. Billie Eilish's brother and producer, Finneas, was masterful on this dark and brooding track. Despite a high likelihood of an Album Of The Year win for Eilish, that will certainly factor into whether or not she can add Record Of The Year to her already impressive haul.
At the end of the day, it would just seem like too big of an oversight for the Grammys to not recognize 'Old Town Road' in one of the big four categories though. Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus earn the recognition they deserve for having arguably the most talked about song of 2019.
Winner: 'Old Town Road' - Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus
