https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KysKdijAhJI Yes Lemmy himself would not be the biggest fan of being included on a list of metal's greats, being every Motörhead gig for the last half-century has started with his immortal growl of "We are Motörhead, and we play rock n' roll!" Alas the legendary wart-faced one crafted one of those riffs that just has too much grit and testicular fortitude to only sit within the rock camp, easily crossing over into anything from grunge to metal and back again (Motörhead essentially predate both anyway) all thanks to that iconically gasoline-soaked bass tone. Firing on all cylinders as only Lemmy, Whizzo and Mikkey Dee can, the song has almost played at every single Motorhead gig since that recording, with Lemmy backing up his dedication to the fans and the song by saying "If you go and see Chuck Berry, you wanna see Jonny B. Goode, so if you're going to a Motorhead show, you want Ace of Spades." It's impossible to argue with the man, and with newer versions of the song featuring re-worded lyrics to include Lemmy acknowledging his own reputation across the globe with "I don't wanna live forever, but apparently I am", there's an infinite amount of Motorhead shows - both authentic and tribute - that the song is yet to rock the walls to yet.
