24. Papa Roach - Infest (2000)
Notable Tracks: Between Angels and Insects, Broken Home, Blood Brothers I'm probably not building a great reputation with some readers at this point, but I felt almost obligated to add this album to the list. And keep in mind, kind reader, I did choose not to subject you to a large, grotesque image of a cockroach and its underbelly. Those of you familiar with this album know precisely what I mean. Why on Earth, or any other galactic mass, is Papa Roach on a positive top 25 list? The reason is pretty simple. This album brings out a particular form of nostalgia. For us Millennials, an album like this was seminal for rock music entering the new millennium. Not only were some of the songs so "in your face," lyrically, there was often a very meaningful/useful message inscribed (see Between Angels and Insects) within some pretty simplistic, yet badass guitar riffs. What I can't tell you, however, is what the hell happened to Papa Roach. Perhaps roaches are not immortal, after all. But, for the sake of pure nostalgia, and a desire for these roaches to squirm back to their musical origins, they deserved to be included on this list.
