16. Feel Good Inc.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pls_luhVdAw There's something so fabulously childlike and effortless about brilliant pop music, whether it's Paul McCartney-penned or featuring De La Soul. And there's something so clean and clinical about the line, "Love forever, love is free, let's turn forever, you and me". 'Feel Good Inc.' may be an allegory for the ever-manufacturing pop business, but it's nothing more than a nursery rhyme: a nursery rhyme with the most delicious vocal line and inviting bassline, but a nursery rhyme all the same. Because it's so lovely. And the message behind it was a finger on the pulse of 2005. It still is. We don't need ephemeral style. We just need timeless love of music. It's so simple and so pure a 21st Century pop track, that eight years on, it just feels like a tune I've had in the back of my mind all my life. And that's the power of a brilliant musician. They place ideas in your head and make you wonder why no one came up with those hooks first.
