25 Greatest Hip-Hop Albums Of All Time
24. Big Pun - Capital Punishment
Few rappers alive can claim to have as insane delivery and wordplay as the late, great Big Pun, whose debut record Capital Punishment still stands as his greatest achievement. An intense, funny, dark and brilliantly conceived collection of tracks, the record showcases Pun's top-tier lyrical ability as he out-raps the likes of Black Thought and Inspectah Deck, and throws out hit after hit.
Released in 1998, Capital Punishment saw Big Pun become the first Latin-American rapper to secure a platinum record. Big Pun however sadly passed away two years later, before the release of his second album, aged only 28. But, in death, he left behind a massive legacy as one of the best lyricists in rap, and Capital Punishment serves as a reminder that he will forever be one of a kind.
