3. Why It's Better Than The Dark Side Of The Moon
The Dark Side of the Moon: I'll be honest, even though it may cost me any credibility I have as a reviewer and fan of Pink Floyd - I've never quite liked the flow of this album. I mean, it starts off great with the tracks Speak To Me and then Breathe. But then comes On the Run, which while a good song, messes up the flow of the album. It's essentially Richard Wright experimenting with an EMS synthesizer, and there's cool effects like adding the Doppler effect at numerous points... but still, it's basically just him and a synth. But then we get to Time, which is often regarded as one of their finest songs, and all looks good again. Until The Great Gig in the Sky, which has some excellent music, but once again messes up the flow of the album (mostly due to Clare Torry's vocalizing throughout the song). But after that it's all good again for the rest of the album.
Why Animals Is Better: It flows perfectly. Not only do the lyrics in it follow a steady theme, the music flows so beautifully you hardly notice when one song ends and the next begins.
