1. Arctic Monkeys - Glastonbury
Arctic Monkeys aren't just an Indie band from Sheffield anymore, they haven't been buckled by pressure to stay in the confounds of "Whatever People Say I am..." and "Favourite Worst Nightmare" - as many would have liked them to. Instead they have become much more. Their new album "AM" has sent them stratospheric and this unprecedented headline performance showcased it to no end. It would be hard to argue that this was not the best headline performance of 2013. Right from the offset the Sheffield boys were a different beast, Alex Turner in particular. The frontman was loquacious, he bounded out statements of intrigue in a somewhat Californian accent: "I just want to tell you I'm yours. The question is however R U Mine Glastonbury?" That elaborate introduction to "R U Mine" was just one of many quips throughout the evening. Like any great headline set, it spanned all their albums. Acoustic versions of Cornerstone and Mardy Bum went down a treat. And like any great Arctic Monkey's set it finished with fan's favourite "505" and the arrival of the very familiar Miles Kane.
