5 Criminally Overlooked Indie Bands You Need To Love

5. The Arrivals

To kick things off, we have a mostly unknown band from Chicago. However, as with most of the bands on this list, this has nothing to do with their talent. The Arrivals play mostly pop-punk, with an emphasis on the punk, making enough of a difference between them and many other bands that their sound manages to stay fresh and original, without moving into any sort of hardcore territory. If anything, they are uncommonly accessible.

In my opinion, it is a mystery that this band have not gone further than their YouTube obscurity. They sound like a band that I could easily hear on the radio, and The Arrivals have some very cutting and relevant comments to make on everything from the music industry to growing up. Their most recent album, Molotov Cocktail (2010), is one of the most brilliantly varied and accomplished pieces of indie music I've heard in years. Unfortunately, only a few of their songs are available on YouTube, though they have some albums on iTunes.
