4. Andrew Wood (January 8, 1966 March 19, 1990)
The flamboyant lead singer of Seattle based rock band Mother Love Bone died before the band could release their first album, Apple. Wood died in March 1990 of a heroin overdose before days before the bands debut album could be released. The best known song of the band, Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns, was featured on the soundtrack to the 1992 film, Singles. The band Temple of the Dog was formed as a tribute to Wood, with Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, Matt Cameron and Mike McCready contributing to the project.
