5 Great Bands With Only One Studio Album

1. Sex Pistols

By the mid-1970's, many rock fans were looking for something new to grab onto. Aside from prog and metal, there were no other outlet for aggressive music. All of a sudden, four snotty delinquents from Britain set the entire music world on fire.

When Nevermind the !*$% came out, the Sex Pistols became the official spokesmen for what would be known as punk rock. This new sound was nasty and heavy while staying incredibly simple. The guitars roar out of the speakers as guitarist Steve Jones blasts his way through these major-chord diatribes. Frontman Johnny Rotten's lyrics were some of the most vile that had ever been put to tape up to that point, dealing with taboo subjects such anarchy, lambasting the Queen, and abortion just to name a few.

Due to the band's antics, the Sex Pistols were bound to implode as soon as they started. By 1978, the band was on the ropes and got through a tour of America before disbanding. The band's initial efforts helped ignite a fire in other bands like the Clash and the Damned to speak up as well. Punk had always been an attitude present in rock, but the Sex Pistols first fired the shot to turn it into a movement.
