5 Greatest The Beatles Albums

2. The Beatles (aka The White Album) (1968)

Let€™s face it- nobody calls this album €˜The Beatles self-titled album€™. It€™s The White Album. It€™s what I€™ve always called it, it€™s what it€™s listed as on my mp3, and it€™s what I€™ll be calling it here. Anyway. The White Album is oft criticised for feeling like solo material jammed together, but I see this is a good thing. I think the diverse nature of the album should be celebrated. The album is put together in such a way that the songs don€™t jar too much against each other, it€™d be a poorer album if Revolution #9 followed Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Dah. I admit that I even like some of the lighter songs on the album. I get a kick out of Everybody€™s Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey, I like Honey Pie, Don€™t Pass Me By and even Why Don€™t Me Do It In The Road? This is one of those albums that you forgot certain song, but on listening again you discover all over again, like the slightly creepy Long, Long, Long and the unlisted Can You Take Me Back. The album€™s all over the place, and isn€™t that bloody wonderful?
