5 Metal Albums We Should Still Crank (And 5 We Should Tank)

4. Tank It! Manowar - Into Glory Ride

The swords. The loincloths. That moustache. The machismo-dripping power metal. To be fair, that's any Manowar album. Here we are again friends in the year of 1983. Our third entry from that year, Into Glory Ride, was unleashed on metal's masses.

The band's sophomore album would almost seem Spinal Tap-level satirical if it weren't for the fact that Manowar takes its metal... and themselves... very seriously. So seriously in fact, the band inked the deal with their new record label in their own blood.

There is no doubt that Manowar were pioneers in the realm of "Epic Metal". Their medieval and viking imagery put their brand of metal on the map...in 1983.

Sure, songs like Gates of Valhalla and Secret of Steel will still bring a nostalgic chuckle and Gloves of Metal has been covered a couple times by legit bands. It's not enough to bring this musical version of Beastmaster into the 21st century. The album conjured elements of heroic fantasy and mythology that were keeping things on brand for Manowar.

There may always be rabid "Manowarriors" out there, sharpening their axes and rooting out false metal. Probably best to just leave them to it. The sands of time has deemed that the power of Into Glory Ride shall now forever be...eh, just tank it.
