1. Kanye West - Yeezus
Oh, boy. Projecting "New Slaves" on countless buildings and performing on SNL was a publicity stunt for the ages. Releasing the album cover and NOT releasing a single was another stunt, more likely to improve album sales of what's possibly this year's biggest surprise - Kanye gets angry. Like... super angry. Screaming, spilling, and spitting, Kanye spins industrial beats on "On Sight," samples Marilyn Manson on "Black Skinhead," declares himself a god and demands his croissant on "I Am A God," and states his second verse on "New Slaves" to be the greatest rap verse of all-time. Well, that's a relief, Yeezy's still got an ego after all of this. Pulling out autotune for "Guilt Trip" reminded everyone of 808's and Heartbreaks, his most misunderstood and most lackluster album to date. Some called Yeezus Kanye's Kid A. This is just a good Kanye album, somewhere below the greatness of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
