27. Outkast - Speakerboxxx / The Love Below

Having made their name on the back of several revolutionary LPs, bringing Southern rap into contention with the East and West coasts as a key hip hop hotbed, Outkast fully embraced their enhanced popularity with Speakerboxxx / The Love Below. Split neatly in half, the double-album allows either member of Outkast their own creative space, having previously traded breakneck verses in deliberately claustrophobic fashion. Big Boi remains closer to the duo's roots, entwining funk and hip hop in a punchy manner.
