Gaga 6 Lady Gaga's debut album, "The Fame", was a huge success and the single "Poker Face" topped charts in almost every category, in almost every country. The album sold over 12 million copies and won Gaga a Grammy Award for Best Electronic Dance Album. She received popular success in the United States and with the help of her own creative team, she also began to make a name for herself internationally. Her debut single, "Just Dance", received both popular and commercial acclaim. The song was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording in 2008 and reached number one on the mainstream pop charts in January 2009. That same year, Gaga was nominated for nine awards at the MTV Video Music Awards where she won for Best New Artist - showing that she was an up-and-coming talented individual. In 2009, a deluxe album was brought out entitled "The Fame Monster" which produced the chart topping hits "Bad Romance" and "Telephone". This was the second album of Gaga's to win a Grammy Award, meaning both her albums had been successful. The reason for Gaga's fame and success is that she has so much imagination and creativity. The artist has gone from a nobody to one of the biggest stars in the world; she is a global celebrity and an international pop star. She can sing, write and play the piano, and is best known for her ability to re-invent herself. You simply can't get bored of her as you do not know who she really is and you never know what she's going to wear, do or say next. Since appearing on the music scene in 2005 she's won five Grammy Awards, two People's Choice Awards and has sold more than 50 million singles worldwide. She has become so successful that the University of North Carolina now teaches a course dedicated to the study of her rising fame.
