6 Key Things Bullet For My Valentine Need To Do To Save Their Fanbase

4. Harness Their Harsher, Signature Sound

Bullet Matt Guitar Now any of us that have heard Matt Tuck€™s side project Axewound know he can shred the nipples off a bison from a neighbouring continent, yet where is the evidence for this in Bullet€™s recent output? That self-titled albums opening track Vultures features a guitar break where Tuck just goes hell for leather, firing through as many notes as his body will allow, marking one of the sweetest most satisfying parts on the album. Yet over in the Bullet camp, aside from Pleasure and Pain€™s solo from Fever, I can barely think of any moments where that feeling of €˜how the hell are they playing that fast!?€™ has ever returned. That brings me onto that album overall, and the marked direction it appeared to take in terms of tonality. The actual track Fever had a ferocious intro which gave way to some truly shocking lyrics, the mid-point break being one of the most laughable the band have ever put out. For those unaware of what I€™m referring to, imagine a thumping metal track chugging along, before a tempo change slows things down and Matt starts getting intimate with the microphone: €œCome here you naughty girl, you€™re such a tease, You look so beautiful, down on your knees, Keep on those high heels, rip off all your clothes, You smell so f*cking good, it makes me lose control!€ This from the chaps who made fields of diehard fans bellow €œscream, aim, fire!€, €œfour words to choke upon: look at me now!€ and €œyour tears don€™t fall, they crash around me!€ with every last cubic centimetre of breath, and the likes of the above are just embarrassing.
