6 More Bands You Should be Listening to Right Now
There’s some great acts in here that are definitely worth your attention if you’ve not had a look yet.
Its that time again. That time where I pop up on your computer monitor, laptop screen or smartphone and try to molest your music taste with some new music that I think is pretty neat. You might not be familiar, were only in our third outing but have a look at the previous one and then two, or two and then one, if youre that way inclined. Theres some great acts that are definitely worth your attention if youve not had a look yet. So, feel free to do so now. Ill wait. Back? Wasnt wrong was I? For those who didnt go check, well I hope you feel bad. I shouldve warned you previously but I wanted it to be your own decision, and not in any way biased, but theres a counter here that tallies up every time this feature is opened, the other two arent and subsequently the bands included arent listened to. Each time that ticks over, I kill a kitten. I dont get any satisfaction out of it, its for your own good, and Ill tell you now, its getting messy in this room. Keep that in mind for future features. Enjoy!
1. Codeine
indie/slowcore/post-pop"Codeine or 3-methylmorphine (a natural isomer of methylated morphine, the other being the semi-synthetic 6-methylmorphine) is an opiate used for its analgesic, antitussive, and antidiarrheal properties. And because its... its just great." Now whilst that might be a quick summary of the ever popular painkiller, it is also a fitting description of Codeine, the band. Perhaps if we ignore the antidiarrheal aspect. Well, and the atitussive aspect too. Ok, its not that fitting a description. However, if you are familiar with the feeling of high (or far beyond prescription) dose of codeine, when listening to the band youll feel the similarity. This three piece have been around for some time, or rather, they were around some time ago, but have since come back. Meaning, this is the perfect time to expose yourself to them if arent already familiar. Formed in 1989, they released two seminal albums in the form of Frigid Stars and The White Birch, then split up. They reunited this year and I had the pleasure of getting to see them perform at Ill Be Your Mirror. In itself an entirely sedative experience. Their music is slow, sombre, melancholic and haunting. Yet, it contains a warmth that is comforting and uplifting. Not unlike their namesake. http://youtu.be/dHPwJiT7buM***
